All of the authors were in agreement in the fact that there should be more distance learning. This allows schools to compete globally and open the enrollment process to more students. With distance learning, students can attend school from home and still be with their family. This also eliminates the monopoly that schools had on teaching. Schools have been face-to-face and students were to use it now they have a choice of how they want to learn. They can do everything from the house and still be housewifes, mothers, at home sick, or whatever.

In contrasting the situation, some students are resistant to change and think that face-to-face education is the way education should be. You have the same learning happening but it is taught differently. Like wit teachers who are resistant to change, some students are resistant to change and feel that is the best way to teac education.

I agree that we should move to a new level of teaching and learning. This is just like with resturants, there are different Chinese resturants so you can pick which one is the one you like best and want to dine in.

  1. I agree that there are resistance to change by both the students and the instructors, but we as educators must help those who are hesitant about change to become more comfortable. This is done by explaining and showing these individuals what resources to use and how to use them properly. I have experienced that most people are hesitant and fear change, because they do not fully understand technology. Distance education is not for everyone and we should not expect everyone to jump on board with this learning process. I agree that more alternatives to learning such as distance education helps to eliminate and decrease the controls in the monopoly that is found in school systems today.
